International Development Cooperation
An Overview of International Capital Flows for Analysis in Colombia
International development cooperation has been a major source of funding for Colombia especially in relation to armed conflict and strengthening governance issues. In particular, the Official Development Assistance (AOD , by its Spanish acronym) has presented an increasing trend in disbursements since 1990, helping the government in its work to the care and comprehensive victims ́ reparation to victims, land restitution, poverty reduction, institutional strengthening, among others. This paper aims to show the evolution of official aid in the country, its main donors and areas of action in relation to the National Strategy and the international development agenda. The emerging post-conflict scenario and the new global development agenda with Sustainable Development Goals, turn the international cooperation into a benchmark of funding for the effective fulfillment of the goals set by the government.
