The objective of this research is to analyse the realities of the secondary education model on the training of business administrators in Colombia. The information was obtained through a documentary analysis based on a descriptive scope and a qualitative approach. Among the main findings, the advantages and disadvantages of the different educational processes and methods were identified, as well as the characteristics of the current educational models. The educational model in higher education is important because it is training people who are going to contribute to the development of the country, and this is influenced by the type of education they receive from an early age. It is concluded that the education system in Colombia is outdated in terms of technology and teaching methods, but even so, new processes and methodologies are being implemented so that students learn and not memorise.
