Relationship Between Load-Bearing Structure and Generic Space as a Design Principle in the Kennedy South Community Cultural Center
This research starts from the description and analysis of the relationship between load-bearing structure and generic space in cultural buildings, through the decomposition of functionality in each space that organizes these infrastructures, to identify a functional model in which flexible spaces predominate, freeing the space from usage restrictions. This purpose emphasizes the adaptable nature of contemporary projects as opposed to the traditional model associated with this type of facility, where it is common to find the structure and functional envelope separated. This circumstance affects spatial fluidity and requires static programmatic spaces to be proposed, which the project seeks to avoid by proposing a complementary structure that frees the volume
for the arrangement of multipurpose spaces.
