Authors

Carlos Alberto Sampedro Gaviria Universidad de la Sabana ,

This text presents a reflection on the challenges of contemporary cities, among which stands out the risk of turning against themselves due to depersonalizing practices that determine the way they are inhabited. Initially, some characteristics of current cities and some examples of practices that deny the person are quickly examined. Subsequently, the theoretical and practical role of the humanities is proposed, which, while remaining liberal knowledge, fulfill an important social function. Finally, it is concluded that the humanities can offer solutions to the challenges presented by cities.
