Dialogue as a spiritual exercise for the constitution of empathy
Over the years, it has been observed how technological advances have permeated the life of man and the misuse of technological devices has generated a loss of empathy, which to some extent occurs thanks to dialogue. This article seeks to defend the importance of dialogue for the constitution of empathy and its implication in the examination that people make of themselves -because it is a fundamental aspect in the life of the human being-, as well as in the knowledge of the other. Initially, it starts from the considerations of Pierre Hadot, who has studied the issue of dialogue as a spiritual exercise; later, an approach is made to the dialogue with the other from the Gadamerian position and, finally, the issue of dialogue is constituted as a generator of empathy, from the postulates of Edith Stein. This document is born from the Philosophy Seminar and its teaching within the framework of the perspective of philosophy as a way of life of the Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education of the National Pedagogical University
