Applying Gracia's deliberative method to religious leaders that spiritually assist women deprived of freedom

The present article will deepen the use of the deliberation method in the context of religious leaders, making it a useful tool to sort out the challenges that emerge during the spiritual assistance given to women deprived of their freedom. To do this, I will be using the deliberative pedagogy proposed by Gracia (2011a; 2011b; 2014). Highlighting and applying the deliberative method in such a context will unify the criteria to substantiate and guide the spiritual assistance given to persons with different religious beliefs. The commitment we have as religious leaders working with female convicts is to reach agreements via deliberative practices. Likewise, prioritizing the valuable elements that hold and support the spiritual live of these women fill this context with hope and grant deep meaning to their life projects. Spirituality, being a complex topic due to the multiple factors it presents, does not hinder the spiritual leaders to reflect upon the essential elements of deliberation. On the contrary, it helps the spiritual lives of these women, in confinement, to continue discovering god’s will while they regain their freedom.
